Sitefinity Version 4 Roadmap Announced

Telerik have recently announced their roadmap for Version 4 of the popular Sitefinity Content Management System. As a Certified Sitefinity Service Partner, Glenfield Creative is looking forward to offering the many new features the release will bring.

New and enhanced features include:

Forms Module

The module will allow users to create customized forms and collect statistics based on site visitors’ responses.

Analytics Module

This module will collect statistics on the user activity on a Sitefinity site and display reports to administrators.

Granular Permissions

This functionality will allow administrators to set permissions on a content item level.

Integration with Windows Workflow Foundation

This includes support for WWF runtime, a set of predefined activities for Sitefinity workflows and web controls for displaying and executing workflows dynamically.

Inline Content Editing

Inline editing allows editing of content directly on the page of the live website.

Page Layout Builder

The Page Layout Builder enables you to define the page layout by simply dropping and resizing different layout elements. It’s entirely done through the user interface with no technical knowledge required.

New Project Manager

The new wizard-based Project Manager takes care of the Sitefinity 4.0 installation as well as creating, deploying and upgrading Sitefinity projects.

Enhanced Performance and Improved User Experience

The Sitefinity 4.0 back end is completely ajaxified, resulting in a considerable performance boost. The administration area has improved look and feel and provides unmatched user experience.

Personalization of the Sitefinity Administration

Sitefinity 4.0 allows you to customize the administrative backend based on the roles and responsibilities of the different CMS users. Multiple configurations can be created and applied on a user or role basis as a policy, providing an additional level of security and personalization. The administration area pages can be edited and customized as easily as web pages.

Localization Manager for the administration area

The localization manager provides an intuitive interface for translation of all items in the Sitefinity administration area. Changes are stored by date and time, allowing for easy localization updates with new version upgrades.

Advanced content classification (taxonomy)

Along with categories and tags, Sitefinity 4.0 will support facet and network taxonomies, allowing for defining advanced content relationships and classification.

Advanced Search Mechanism

Sitefinity 4.0 comes with an intuitive query builder which allows you to define advanced search and filtering criteria, especially useful when operating with large data sets.
